2024 Town & Country Dinner
With over 150 farmers, members, and community leaders in attendance, this year’s event recognized outstanding contributions to the community.
The 2024 event was hosted by the Callaway County Farm Bureau and Callaway Youth Expo, with The Callaway Bank serving as the presenting sponsor. The evening featured an awards presentation honoring individuals and businesses for their exemplary work in agriculture.
Host Award
The Callaway County Farm Bureau and Callaway Youth Expo were recognized with the Host Award for their continued commitment to supporting Callaway County’s agricultural community. Both organizations have long been instrumental in fostering youth involvement and promoting local farming initiatives.
Agri-Business Award
The prestigious Agri-Business Award was presented to Borgelt Farms, a family-owned operation founded by Clifford Borgelt in 1951. Borgelt Farms was honored for its outstanding contributions to both the agricultural sector and the community at large. Over the years, the farm has grown into a pillar of the community, with Clifford’s children continuing the legacy of agricultural excellence and philanthropy. The Borgelt family has generously supported local organizations, embodying a deep belief in giving back and building a stronger future for Callaway County.
Legacy Farmer Award
The Legacy Farmer Award went to Jim and Alyce Zerr, longtime Callaway County farmers who epitomize dedication to their profession and the family farm. The Zerr’s moved from St. Peters to Williamsburg, MO, in 1966 to continue their family’s dairy operation, which thrived until the early 2000s. Today, the family’s farm includes row crops, beef cattle, and hogs, and is operated by their sons and grandson. Jim and Alyce, who recently retired from the Farm Bureau board after decades of service, have left an indelible mark on the agricultural community.
